Montagne des Français, Valley of the Parakeets, & Ramena
Today we hit the unmissable site of the region, 45 minutes' drive from the city. There were historic battles here during the colonial period, but today it is a favorite spot for local flora and fauna (animals and plants!)
We take a nature route with our local guides who will introduce to you baobabs, thorny trees and aloe plants, and search for birds, reptiles, and even (rarely sited but in the area) lemurs! The jungle-thronged valley of the parakeets is the single best hike in the Diego area.
On this unique pilgrimage site, follow the path to the panoramic terrace from where you will see one of the most beautiful bays in the world and on the island.
